The selection of award recipients is made by a distinguished Jury of Awards, consisting of leaders in the design, construction and academic communities in Georgia. 

Meet the 2020 Jury of Awards 

Daniel Kuemmerle

Daniel is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Kennesaw State University, where he teaches engineering mechanics and structural design courses. He has also taught engineering courses in the School of Building Construction at Georgia Tech. Prior to teaching, he worked for Uzun & Case, LLC for 15 years with a design concentration in the hospitality, residential, institutional, and commercial sectors. He managed projects ranging in size from a single story to over 28 stories in height. His current projects include seismic upgrades of several existing structures in the Los Angeles and San Francisco areas.

 

 

 

 

Basil Bennett

Basil Bennett, PE, is a retired Structural Engineer living in Atlanta, Georgia.  His forty-four-year career has included practice as an Engineering  Consultant, Bridge Engineer and Infrastructure Project Manager for the City of Atlanta, Principal in a small Design-Build enterprise and most recently, Principal Structural Engineer for the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.  He is currently pursuing a number of “bucket-list” initiatives that are unrelated to Structural Engineering.

Aaron Wilner

With close to two decades of design experience on multiple building types, Aaron has combined a strong passion for design with the technical skills necessary to produce award-winning projects that have been featured in Architectural Record, ARCHITECT and Arch Record2, among others. He is widely recognized for his innovative design & ability to create exciting spaces that ensure the integrity of design solutions remain uncompromising as the project moves through design phases. Part of Aaron’s design strength is his ability to draw from his extensive experience delivering projects from programming through construction.

Russell E. Brockelbank

Russ currently serves as a Project Executive in the Atlanta office covering Savannah and Atlanta areas for Balfour Beatty Construction, a national leader in construction ranking in the ENR top 25.  The Office, Hospitality, Multi-Family and General Commercial products are his primary areas of concentration from preconstruction through project turnover.  His resume includes signature projects such as the 309 East Paces Ferry, Hampton Midtown, the Terminus Complex, Southern Company Headquarters, Centergy, the W Hotel & Residences, as well as the East Lake Golf Club Expansion.  Brockelbank is licensed as a General Contractor and qualifier in Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee.  Within the construction industry, he’s been active in a number of associations as well as working with his alma mater Georgia Tech.  He is currently serving as a Director on the Buckhead Coalition, Junior Achievement of Georgia Board of Directors, Central Atlanta Progress Board of Directors and Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce Board of Advisors as well as the GT CISE Advisory Board.
