Join us for an NCSEA pre-recorded webinar on "Load Testing of Existing Structures" presented by F. Dirk Heidbrink, P.E. on Wednesday, April 14th from 12pm - 1:30pm.

Full scale structural load testing is typically performed to verify the capacity of a structure, test a repair, or at the direction of a building official. Various codes exist with load testing procedures to be followed. Safety of the structure and personnel performing the test is of utmost importance during the testing.

This pre-recorded session will consist of a description of how load tests have been conducted using case studies of projects spanning the past 40 years. The case studies will highlight various loading mediums, such as water containers, hydraulic rams, lead ingots, and other items commonly found on a construction site, such as CMU block. The case studies will also include information regarding why the test was conducted and present pertinent findings.

F. Dirk Heidbrink, P.E., is a civil engineering graduate of Purdue University and an Associate Principal with Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. (WJE) in Northbrook, Illinois. During his 39-year tenure at WJE, Mr. Heidbrink has conducted hundreds of load tests using a wide variety of load mediums on existing structures. He is an active member of ACI Committee 437 and a member of the subcommittee that developed the current load test specification referenced in ACI 562-16 “Code Requirements for Assessment, Repair, and Rehabilitation of Existing Concrete Structures” and to be referenced in the next revision of ACI 318 “Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete”.

This course will award 1.5 hours of continuing education.

After registering for the event, you will receive a separate email from “SEAOG Webinar” the week of the event with a confirmation and instructions for joining the webinar.  Please check your spam folder if you have trouble locating this email.
