Event Recap

Five-Iron Golf and NASCC: The Steel Conference

To tee-off the week of events for the steel conference, SEAOG hosted a pre-conference event on Tuesday April 21st at Five-Iron Golf.  Special thanks to Vulcraft/Nucor for sponsoring this event, where members and friends enjoyed great conversation, food, and a fun night of virtual golf and other games!

With the steel conference this year drawing record turnout, SEAOG members were able to take in the vast array of sessions and exhibits the rest of the week, while also taking advantage of a nice meeting room space courtesy of AISC and GWCC available all three days to us.

We also enjoyed breakfast each day with 50+ code and reference material giveaways!

Thanks to Vulcraft/Nucor, AISC, National Wood Council, and IdeaStatica for all of your support of SEAOG during the exciting week of events!

SEAOG to BOAG 2026 Conference

SEAOG representatives Chris Murphy and John McFarland presented on IBC code updates to the Building Officials Association of Georgia (BOAG) last week at their annual conference.  In addition to covering relevant structural updates for the newly implemented IBC 2024, including rain loads and flood loads, the presentation included substantive discussion around third-party special inspections and implementation documentation.  Great engagement with some of our counterparts in the various AHJ’s around the state, and a collaborative environment to help improve structural engineering and permitting and inspections across Georgia.
