SEAOG's Structural Engineering Equity and Engagement (SE3) committee is excited to launch our first Mentorship Program. National surveys of Structural Engineers have repeatedly found that respondents with identified mentors reported being more satisfied with career trajectory and career choice. Our goal is to provide members with support for every level of their career by offering opportunities to connect with other structural engineering professionals. Based on interest, participants may be assigned to small groups of 3-4 for mutual mentorship, or paired in a traditional mentor-mentee partnership. Application will be open until June 1, 2021.
What: Virtual career mentorship facilitated by SEAOG
Where: Anywhere you have access to the internet
When: Quarterly Coffee/Lunch/Afternoon Break meetings

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is this for?
All structural engineers looking to share experiences and learn from others in the industry
What does mutual mentorship mean?
Mutual mentorship shifts away from traditional one-on-one mentorship to a group setting and encourages multi-directional coaching and experience sharing. You are not signing up to specifically be a “mentor” or “mentee”, but grouping will bring together members with a variety of years of experience.
How will I be grouped?
Take the matching survey! SEAOG's SE3 volunteers will use this hierarchy for matching:
- Time Preference
- Years of Experience
- Type of Work
- Desired Focus Topic
What is my time commitment?
This "season" of mentoring will last for one year. By signing up, you are committing to (4)-1 hour long meetings per year
